Volunteering Can Fill The Gap
Volunteering can help you learn a new skill, make new connections, and make you feel better for contributing to your community. And then there is strategic volunteering. Strategic volunteering and volunteering are two different things.
Strategic Volunteering means that you actively seek out opportunities to donate your time to a cause that will not only “look good” on your résumé, but will actually give you relative career experience – and will make you look all the more appealing in the eyes of a prospective employer. For example, volunteering to work at a community shelter lets everyone know you’ve got a good heart. And helping others in need can enrich your life and make the world seem a better place. But being strategic about your volunteer work can make an impact that extends beyond simply filling in employment gaps and in today's job market, no one can have too many connections.
